Who we are

Kompete is operated by Nitish Kumar Gupta (sole proprietor, trading as Kompete), India ("we", "us"). Privacy questions and requests: support@kompeterun.com.

Information we collect

• Account: name, email address, sign-in method (email/password or Google), profile photo and handle, referral/invite codes.
• Profile and body details you enter: such as weight, height and training preferences, used for calorie and training-load estimates. These are stored privately and are not visible to other users.
• Activities and location: while you record a run we collect precise location (GPS), distance, pace, elevation, cadence and timing. Saved activities, routes and statistics are stored in your account.
• Run diagnostics: for each recorded run we may also upload a detailed technical log (per-second GPS fixes and sensor readings) so we can find and fix tracking problems. It is on by default, visible only to you and our engineers, and you can switch it off in Settings → Privacy → Run diagnostics. We keep them until you delete your account.
• Purchase information (Premium): if you subscribe, we receive from the store and our subscription provider whether you are subscribed or in a trial, which plan, the dates, and the price and currency. We use your Kompete user ID to link the purchase to your account. We do not receive your card or payment details; the store handles payment.
• Content you share: posts, photos, comments, likes, direct messages, friend connections and challenge participation. Posts can be visible to other users depending on the audience you pick.
• Health data (with your permission): see "Health and fitness data".
• Device and usage data: device model and OS version, app version, crash reports, product-usage events (which screens and features are used), notification tokens, and an App Check attestation that proves requests come from a genuine copy of the app.

Health and fitness data

If you allow it, Kompete reads heart rate, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, sleep duration and running power from Health Connect (Android) or Apple Health (iOS). We use these readings only to compute your own training load, recovery and insights inside Kompete. We do not sell them, share them with other users, use them for advertising, or send raw heart-rate series to third-party AI or advertising services. You can revoke access at any time in your phone's settings. Deleting your account deletes the stored daily health summaries.

How we use your information

To provide the app (record and analyse runs, give you the Premium features you have paid for and manage your subscription, show your history, run challenges, feeds and messages); to personalise training insights; to keep the service safe (anti-cheat, abuse prevention, and moderation, including our team reviewing posts, comments or messages that a user has reported); to diagnose bugs and improve tracking accuracy; to send notifications you have enabled; and to meet legal obligations. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

Estimates are not medical advice

VO₂ max, race predictions, recovery/readiness and training-load figures are statistical estimates from your own data. They are for general fitness information only and are not a medical device or diagnosis.

Who we share data with

Service providers that process data on our behalf, under their own privacy terms:

• Google Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, databases, cloud functions, push notifications, crash reporting, analytics and app attestation.
• Google Maps Platform and Mapbox — map display and route matching; location coordinates of a route may be sent to these services to draw or snap it.
• RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management, so we can tell whether you have Premium and restore it across devices. It receives your Kompete user ID, store purchase receipts and device/app information.
• Google Play and the Apple App Store — they process your payment and subscription under their own privacy policies.
• Cloudinary — storage and delivery of photos you upload.
• Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with Google.

We share content you post with the audience you choose. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect safety and rights. We do not sell personal information.

Where data is stored and how long we keep it

Data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure, encrypted in transit and at rest, and may be processed in countries other than yours. We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account we delete your profile, activities, routes, posts, run diagnostics, health summaries and other data tied to your account (see "Delete your account"). Purchase and subscription records held by Google, Apple and our subscription provider (RevenueCat) are kept as the stores and the law require, and follow their own retention rules; to ask for them to be removed where possible, contact support@kompeterun.com. Records we must keep for tax or legal reasons are retained. Backups and logs are purged on their normal schedule.

Your rights and choices

You can access and edit your profile in the app, switch off run diagnostics, revoke location, health and notification permissions in system settings, and delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA) you may also have the right to access, correct, export, restrict or object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. Email support@kompeterun.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

Kompete is for adults only and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us data, contact support@kompeterun.com and we will delete it.

Security

We use encryption in transit and at rest, access rules that limit each account to its own data, and app attestation. No system is perfectly secure; tell us at support@kompeterun.com if you find a problem.

Changes to this policy

We will post updates here and, for material changes, ask you to review them in the app or notify you by email. The date below shows the current version.
